Perched on the heights of Duravel and Puy-l’Evêque, at the heart of the Cahors appellation, Château de Rouffiac embodies the alliance between heritage and modernity. Founded in 1971, the year the appellation was created, the estate now covers 30 hectares of vineyards spread across the three terraces of the Lot Valley and the siderolithic limestone plateau. This diversity of terroirs – clay-limestone, sandy, and iron-rich soils – gives the wines remarkable complexity and great finesse.

Since 2022, a new team has brought fresh ambition and a clear vision: to produce high-quality wines with respect for both nature and people. Under the supervision of our winemaker, Stéphane Revel, the estate is certified High Environmental Value (HVE) and is transitioning to organic farming, with the goal of adopting regenerative viticulture. This approach aims to transform the vineyard into a self-sustaining and resilient ecosystem, enhancing biodiversity and strengthening its ability to face climate challenges.

The flagship grape is, of course, Malbec, the emblematic variety of Cahors, which here reveals its full aromatic richness: black fruits, spices, violets, and an elegant structure, sometimes velvety, sometimes powerful. The estate also grows Merlot, Tannat, and small parcels of Chardonnay and Viognier, allowing for the production of original white and rosé cuvées under the IGP Côtes du Lot.

The wine range reflects the diversity of Cahors styles: age-worthy cuvées with careful aging, such as Tradition, powerful and elegant; more approachable, fruit-driven wines such as Le Fruit or Malbec Cahors, supple and generous; and unique creations with the signature Stéphane Revel range. All vinifications are carried out with minimal intervention and reduced use of sulfites, preserving the purest expression of fruit and terroir.

Today, Château de Rouffiac stands out as a renewed force within the Cahors appellation, proudly upholding the values of quality, authenticity, and sustainability. Its wines, rooted in tradition yet open to the world, appeal both to lovers of structured grands vins and to consumers seeking modernity and freshness.
