FAMILLE D'EXEA

The property, founded on a Gallo-Roman site and bordered by the Canal du Midi, belonged to several Languedoc families prior to being taken over by Antoine de Niquet, the successor to Paul Riquet in the construction of the Canal du Midi and a collaborator of Vauban.
For the family, the story began when Jean Barthélémy d’Exéa, a Knight in the service of Louis de France, acquired this ancient seigneury comprising four adjoining properties – Château de Sérame, Château d’Argens, Château Tour de Montrabech and the Abbey Church of Leingoust – from the descendants of the Niquet family on 18 Vendémiaire, year 12 of the French Republican calendar (October 11, 1803 in the Gregorian calendar).

CHÂTEAU GREZAN

My family's winegrowing history began five generations ago, in 1877, on a tiny plot of carignan between Autignac and Laurens. It was run with the help of a donkey and a horse, and the harvest was made into wine at the back of the family home by Jules-Anatole Cros, known as Costant, and his wife Anna, the first winemaker of the family. From this family history we have inherited know-how in the vineyards, with knowledge of our soils, our grape varieties, certain cultivation practices and expertise in winemaking. My father, Jean-Louis, arrived at the lead of Château Grézan nearly thirty years ago.
History continues and with it the know-how contunously improves allowing us to better satisfy those who follow us and love our wines. We continue to make progress while respecting ancestral wine-making traditions and be open to modernity, where the environment plays an essential role.

The vineyard is a family-run business, split 50/50 between the Faugéres AOP and the Pays d'OC IGP.
Faugéres AOP grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Roussanne, Rolle.
Our Pays d'OC IGP grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Merlot, Rolle, Muscat.
